MANGROVE RIVER CRUISE  (CODE SGEKK 002)

Overview :

An hour drive from Kota Kinabalu reaches Kampung Laya-Laya. Arrived at the jetty and using uniquely built bamboo boats to cross the mangrove river followed by crab catching by showing the method use by the Bajau local ethnic groups. Activities followed by batik painting, water sports on your optional account. For those who prefer not to get wet, you may have fun with other activities such as volleyball and fishing with no extra charge. Tea breaks which consist of Teh Tarik (Pulled Milk Tea) and Roti Canai  will be served.

ISLAND’S EXCURSIONS (SAPI OR MAMUTIK ISLAND)  (CODE SGEKK 005)

Overview :

A boat ride less than half an hour takes you to Sapi or Mamutik island just off Kota Kinabalu City. Sapi and Mamutik is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The fine white sandy beach is perfect for catching some rays. You could take in all 5 islands (additional cost) of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park and really bliss out on anyone of the beaches, the blue sea and coral reefs with colorful marine life.

Lunch will be served at respective island. Gaya, Sapi, mamutik, Manukan & Sulug islands share tropical vegetation that supports all interesting wildlife. To hop to other islands – you may request but there will be additional charges. Water sport activities such as Parasailing, Jet ski, Kayak. Snorkel and fins set are available at own pax account.

KIULU WHITE WATER RAFTING (GRADE 1~2)  (CODE SGEKK 006)

Overview :

Kiulu Village is worth a trip jsut for its lovely rural scenes. The river activities are a bonus. Every  year, traditional water sports are held here. The rafting is mild so it is suitable for the children. Light refreshment will be served while you are brief on rafting techniques, “Do’s & Don’ts” rules. Then enjoy the rafting while the BBQ lunch at river side is prepared for you when you return.

0830 hrs : Meet at hotel lobby and transfer to Tamparuli District. Journey takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

1000hrs : Arrive at starting point Pukak. Short safety techniques and briefing will be conducted by the river guide.

1030 hrs :  Starts rafting for 1 hour 30 mins (depending on the water level). The furthest distance can go up to 15km if the water level is high and 8km if excursions are at normal level.

1200 hrs : Lunch will be served.

1400 hrs : Transfer back to your pick up point.

** IMPORTANT : Rafter must be physically fit, contact lenses are not advisable. Do not bring precious ornaments along the trip. Children below 5 years are not allowed to raft. All the participants must sign a liability Release Form before the trip begins.

To bring : Towel, change of clothes, shoes, sun lotion, waterproof camera and hat.

KINABALU PARK & PORING HOT SPRING DAY TRIP  (CODE SGEKK 007)

Overview :

From the cool temperatures at the Kinabalu Park ** area (**for description, please refer SGEKK008), down to the warm bath at Poring Hot Spring. The usual swing-by for climbers seekign to rejuvenate trail weary bodies. The hot sulphuric  water here is believed to have healing properties in Sabah. Poring is also a place for those in search of rare orchids and unusual plants such as the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia (depending on its availability). The Canopy walkway at 43m upwards brings you eye-level with the treetops. If you prefer to view beauty from ground level up, there is the Butterfly farm (optional). Several species are found here including some endangered ones.

KINABALU PARK DAY TRIP  (CODE SGEKK 008)

Overview :

Pickup from hotel to Kinabalu Park. It may take at least 2 hours to reach the National Park. Along the way you will stop at Nabalu Town – a place rich with local handmade craft. Take a chance to buy some souvenirs to bring back when you return back home. The park is the home to numerous interesting species of flora. It is located at 1600m from the sea level with a soothing temperature. You may do these on your own or with a park naturalist, the Mountain Garden consists of a botanical garden and 9 connected trails, an excellent specimen of the entire Kinabalu Park area gives a wonderful sneak preview of the place. Evenings and early mornings at the park are the perfect for bird watching with over 300 species known to inhabit the area. Kinabalu Park received the greatest recognition of its biological contribution when it was declared Malaysia’s first World Heritage in 2000.

KK BY NIGHT CULTURAL SHOW  (CODE SGEKK 009)

Overview :

Catch Kota Kinabalu City at its most affable. Take a ride down to Tanjung Aru Beach for the sunset and wander through the food stalla here. Go through to Pasar Malam (night market) at waterfront in the city. Enjoy a seafood dinner at Kampung Nelayan Seafood Restaurant and enjoy their spectacular Cultural Show of the insight highlights to Sabah’s Wonderful ethnic groups.

Schedule : Daily cultural show starts at 7.30pm (roughly 3 sets of the dance performances) until 8.30pm

WETLAND SAFARI IN SEARCH OF PROBOSCIS  (CODE SGEKK 010)

Overview :

Pick up from city hotel and will go through about 2 hours journey down the Southern coast of Sabah which takes you along the coast and through rice fields and orchards. This is a ricer cruise through mangroves that are home to several species of wild animals such as crocodiles, long-tailed macaques, silver langurs and the most famous Proboscis monkeys. Klias is also great for bird watching but the real attraction happens after sunset when thousands of fireflies light up the trees along the riverbank.

Hi-tea before and safety briefing will be done by a respective guide before starting a river cruise. River cruises will bring you an adventure to search for Borneo’s bizzare Proboscis monkeys. Monkeys that will come near to the river bank during late afternoon. Malay buffet dinner will be served and after the dark night fall, another short cruise will bring you for a fireflies cruise that occurs along the river.

KUDAT – TIP OF BORNEO & RUNGUS LONG HOUSE CULTURAL  (CODE SGEKK 012)

Overview :

A willing long journey will bring you a cultural tour that takes you to the North through Kota Belud, the place has been known a home to the Bajau House Men in old days. Pay a visit to the very wwll known traditional “Tamu” market (if tour falls on Sunday). Kudat located on the most Northern part of Sabah. One of the place where the Rungus maintain their Long House lifestyle and traditions.

The life here revolves mainly around their rice planting and their handicrafts – basketry, beadworks, and cloth weaving. Rungus women still use a blackstrap handloom to weave their traditional attire made of cotton which they grew themselves. Their dress is one of the most attractive among Sabah’s ethnic groups. You will have a chance to visit one of the longhouses and visit a village who run a cottage including bee farming and gong making. Another Kudat’s attraction is Simpang Mengayau, the most Northern Tip of Borneo – which look out over the collision of the South China Sea and Sulu Sea.

PADAS RIVER WATER RAFTING (GRADE 3~4)  (CODE SGEKK 014)

Overview :

At 0520hrs, a pick up from a city hotel will take you on a 3 hour journey to Beaufort. A short walk around town upon arrival. Board a 40 minutes train to Pangi Station which is the starting point. Light refreshments will be served followed by a briefing on precautions and rafting techniques . Commence rafting down the 23km Padas River and the finishing will be at Rayoh Station. BBQ lunch will be served. Depart for Beaufort Train Station via rail-car. Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu expecting to arrive at 1930 hrs.

*IMPORTANT* : Rafter must be physically fit. Contact lenses are not advisable. Do not bring precious ornaments along the trip. Children below the age of 12 are not allowed to raft in this river if the river level rises to Grade 4. Participants must sign a liability Release Form before the trip begins.

To bring : Towel, changes of clothes, shoes, shorts to change, sun lotion, waterproof camera, hat.

LOK KAWI WILDLIFE ZOOLOGICAL & BOTANICAL PARK (CODE SGEKK 018)

Overview :

The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is run by Sabah Wildlife Department under the Ministry of Tourism, Cultural and Environment. The park covers about 280 acres of land including the Botanical Site managed by the Sabah Forestry Department. This park has numerous species of mammals including birds which have been rescued and rehabilitated in captivity. On the Botanical site, there is a trail which leads to the Herbal and Ginger Garden. You may even catch a glimpse of the ever famous Pitcher plant!

MARI-MARI CULTURAL VILLAGE (CODE SGEKK 019)

Overview :

As you traverse the village, you will find demonstration huts along the tribe houses in which daily activities of old times come into life. For example, the making of a blowpipe, starting a fire (from Bamboo tree – you will learn the steps of making fire with out the help of a lighter), bamboo cooking & montoku (rice wine) processing, demonstration on the olden ways of producing ropes, vests, floors and walls from tree barks. If time permitted, you can have your own henna tattoo and it’s free!

Mantanani Island area is a group of three isolated islands located northwest of Kota Belud, about an hour’s drive from the city of Kota Kinabalu. Approximately 45 minutes boat ride by speedboat from the Kuala Abai jetty. Island boasts surrounded with crystal clear blue waters filled with rich and unpolluted marine life and white sandy beaches. Ideally for island lovers whom prefers the sun, sand and beach. Snorkeling around the Palm Beach area and after lunch, you may snorkel or swim around the house reef area. At 1615, depart back to Kota Kinabalu.

Overview :

Mantanani Island area is a group of three isolated islands located northwest of Kota Belud, about an hour’s drive from the city of Kota Kinabalu. Approximately 45 minutes boat ride by speedboat from the Kuala Abai jetty. Island boasts surrounded with crystal clear blue waters filled with rich and unpolluted marine life and white sandy beaches. Ideally for island lovers whom prefers the sun, sand and beach. At around 1045 hours, start your 1st dive at the Palm Beach area. After lunch, proceed for the 2nd dive site. Overview :

Located in between Gaya and Sapi islands, a 880 meter square pontoon, the very first in South East Asia, 15 minutes from Sabah Park jetty from the mainland. Enjoy the spectacular view underwater from underneath a pontoon after a briefing and presentation from a dive master. You may also enjoy snorkeling around the area or you may go for a sea walking and Discovery Scuba Dive (both on pax account). Lunch will be served and transfer back to mainland by 1430 hours.

PULAU TIGA (SURVIVOR ISLAND) DAY TRIP (CODE SGEKK 024)

Overview :

Pulau Tiga is also known as “Survivor Island”, after it was made the location for a popular television series, “Survivor”. Pulau Tiga is a quaint island retreat that offers opportunities to experience nature and at the same time enjoy the serenity of this pristine and unique off the coast of Borneo.

There is plenty to see and do here, spend the sunny days swimming in its clear turquoise waters, explore its underwater treasure via the many diving courses available around the island, indulge in some water sports or simply relax by the beach  enjoying the sun, the sights and sounds of the ocean. You can even take a nature trail trek to a Mud Volcano area.

An especially recommended trip while you’re on Pulau Tiga is to the nearby “Snake Island” – which takes around 20 minutes by boat from Pulau Tiga. It is a breeding ground for various amphibious sea snakes. These snakes  can usually can be seen coiled in tangled masses under boulders or among tree roots. Even though the snakes are not aggressive, the trip to Snake Island will add some spice to your journey, knowing that these snakes belong to the most poisonous in the world.
